HW Wilson Supports Giving for Thurrock
07/03/2019 H W Wilson has always prided itself on being a local company – local to Ockendon and Thurrock – so we have decided to take part in ‘Giving for Thurrock’.Giving for Thurrock (incorporating Thurrock Community Chest) is the Community Fund run by Thurrock CVS and helps provide funding to over 300 local charities, community groups and organisations allowing them to continue to support and serve the people of Thurrock with services and activities such as befriending for the elderly and isolated, those with a range of mental and physical disabilities, child poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, debt and money advice and much, much more. ‘Giving for Thurrock Day’ on Thursday 29 March will be a day of fundraising, community spirit, goodwill and acts of random kindness and individuals, schools and local businesses have been asked to “give” something. If 1 in 5 people in Thurrock gave £1 on the day then over £30,000 would be raised to help vulnerable people and children throughout the year. H W Wilson has decided to collect donations at Ockendon Station during the two busiest periods that day (0700 – 0900 and 1500 – 1700). If you’d like to help Louise then please let us know.We will also be having a collection bucket here at the yard and going around site. All contributions welcome! While we’d like you to support us in our efforts we do appreciate that some people prefer to give to charity privately so you can still make a contribution or donation that can be as little or as large as you want. It is non-prescriptive and should suit your pocket, your time and your environment. Or you spend time with someone who is isolated or just needs a helping hand. You could volunteer for a good cause. You could go without your normal shop bought tea or coffee and donate that directly. The whole point is giving something back.To find out more about ‘Giving for Thurrock Day’ contact giving@thurrockcvs.org for an information pack or go online to download one.Thank you!
