18/11/2021 Ockendon-based H W Wilson Limited, South Essex Insurance Brokers, Peardon Health and Safety, Street Farm Dental Studio, Medivet, New Village Fish Bar, the Post Office, the Co-Op and Tesco have all joined forces to ensure the community doesn’t miss out on its traditional Christmas tree and lights in 2021. South Ockendon was in danger or not having its tree or festive lighting on North, South and West Roads as well as Canterbury and Derwent Parades this year. That is until local businesses stepped in to save the day and have worked with the Belhus and Ockendon Community Forum to secure the required funds. And everyone is invited to the Village Green in South Ockendon on Friday 3 December from 1700 hours to see the Mayor switch the lights on (at 1730 hours) and get Christmas officially underway.
