24/11/2022 £1,500 OF GIFTS GALORE DONATED FOR THURROCK’S ‘GIVE A GIFT’ CAMPAIGN
Ockendon-based H W Wilson Ltd and SEIB Insurance Brokers, recently joined forces to make sure as many disadvantaged local children receive a gift this Christmas by supporting Thurrock Council and its annual ‘Give a Gift’ Campaign.
Thurrock's 'Give a Gift' secures gifts for hundreds of Thurrock children – known to its children's services teams – who may receive few, if any, presents. Donations can be made by purchasing a gift from their online gift list or by donating a gift at one of their drop-off points around the borough. Gifts can be of any value and they are needed for all ages of children and young people, ranging from 0 to 18 years old. The council’s Give a Gift elves will make sure all presents are wrapped for the children to open on Christmas Day.
H W Wilson has donated £500 in presents while SEIB will present a cheque for £500 and, on top of that £1,000, both companies employees have donated a further £500 worth of toys and gifts giving a grand total of £1,500.
Both companies made their presentations today at the Civic Offices in Grays in the presence of The Mayor of Thurrock, Councillor James Halden, and Cllr Barry Johnson, Thurrock Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education:
Peter Wiffen, Managing Director, H W Wilson: “For almost a Century H W Wilson has proudly been a part of this local community here in Thurrock and is delighted to support such a worthwhile cause once again. Christmas is a time of coming together and giving and all children should enjoy the magic and sparkle that comes with receiving a gift. We applaud Thurrock Council for its award-winning 'Give a Gift' campaign, which is back for a seventh year, and would urge as many people as possible to join us and back the cause.”
SEIB’s Chief Executive Officer, Suzy Middleton: “Helping others is what SEIB is all about and we understand that Christmas can be a difficult time for many families with the cost of living crisis impacting thousands across our local community. That’s why we’re thrilled to be working alongside Thurrock Council in supporting their Christmas give a gift campaign by donating £500 towards this fantastic initiative. We would also like to take the time to thank our wonderful staff at SEIB who have donated lots of presents towards the appeal.”
Cllr Barry Johnson, Thurrock Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education: “This year more than ever, children need the sparkle of Christmas and we can only do what we do with the support of the local community and local businesses. The generosity of both H W Wilson and SEIB will make such a difference and do much to help us achieve our aim of making this most special time of year even more special for those in need.”
