Opportunity Thurrock 2014 proved to be a great success again this year. This event has been running now for the past three years and HW Wilson Ltd have had the privilege to take part since it's inception.

This year was slightly different from past years and the staff at HW Wilson worked in conjunction with our counterparts within the borough to construct a two room 'set' that would demonstrate as many different types of construction trades as possible. This included Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Ceramic tiling, Painting and Decorating etc.  We were supported in this venture by kind donations of materials from 'McEwen Interiors' and for the 2nd year in succession 'Thurrock Hardwoods' of Towers Road, Grays.

Year 10 and 11 students arrived from every secondary school around Thurrock, in order to get an insight into different career opportunities that are available locally.  Not only were they able to engage with employers and explore possible careers, but they were also able to take part in a variety of exhibitions and displays, discovering that there are many different routes into any career they may choose.

The event continued until 7pm allowing  the parents of visiting students to come along and see what inspired their children, as well as giving the young adults who are looking for employment or want to change career, the opportunity to network with business people they may not ordinarily get to meet.

Next year's event is already being planned, and here at HW Wilson we have already committed to attend and go Bigger and Better than before!!!!!
